Join the Indo-American Heritage Museum to celebrate the creativity of wife and husband artists Indira and Karl Johnson in “Migrating Visions”. Indira’s roots in India emerge in sculptural forms utilizing recycled materials to address issues of permanence and decay, strength and vulnerability. With roots in Sweden, Karl incorporates the rhythm and beauty, chaos and inconsistencies of dynamic systems found in nature in multilayered designs. Lise Mckean, an art curator who incorporates interests in anthropology, activism and South Asia in her work, will moderate a discussion with the artists.
The celebration will feature performers from Mandala Performing Arts and Nordic Folk Dancers as well as Indian American snacks and Swedish sweets.
Admission is $10. Tickets can be purchased on the Swedish American Museum’s website: www.SwedishAmericanMuseum.org or at the door.
Street parking is free on Sunday.
“Migrating Visions” exhibition: January 15 – March 26.
